MaintainIT Project
How do you maintain your public computers? Librarians want to know.
"The MaintainIT Project of TechSoup is a three-year project funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. We gather stories from public libraries on how they support public computers and publish their tips and techniques in Cookbooks and articles, available for FREE on the project web site. The Project works with libraries throughout the U.S., while focusing on libraries in the 18 states that are receiving the first round of hardware upgrade grants from the Foundation."
Floatleft's Contribution
Part of the mission of the MaintainIT Project website is to provide the Cookbooks in an online format as a resource for use by librarians who support technology in their libraries. The site was originally deployed on Drupal using the default Drupal theme (which provides the look-and-feel for the site). Floatleft was engaged to develop the Cookbook section of the site and to create a custom design and Drupal theme. The core Drupal code and contributed modules were upgraded in the process. The Cookbook is still under development, but the new site design and upgrade was launched in May '08. Floatleft partnered with Jason Lemieux of Vernal who created the design for the site.
